Presented by Alex Payne (Twitter), Michal Migurski (Stamen Design). Web 2.0 owes much of its success to APIs: protocols to create, distribute, update, and modify the valuable data that comprises the Web. Alex Payne and Michal Migurski will discuss the design of web service APIs from the dual perspectives of client and provider, outlining best practices and cautioning against worst cases.

Very, very interesting presentation, the kind of presentation I'm here to see, done by two gentleman who really gave hints learned from the trenches. Really good!
This was a great peek behind the scenes on how folks actually do APIs. Some solid, practical advice and stories on what worked and what didn't. Well done.
Nice solid and candid presentation on what has worked and what hasn't in API development, and lessons learned. Nice touch to do provider and customer (although it would have been nicer if it was the same project).
Needed to better integrate the two presentations. Felt like two separate discussions.
On plus side, great level of detail and candidness.
It was two discussions, though I agree if it could have focused on a single project it would have felt a bit more continuous

Working for ESPN.com, one of my jobs is developing RSS feeds for our massive store of sports data. This presentation was really cool and helped me get a better understanding of several aspects of API development. It touched on scaling and security. It also discussed the pros and cons of output formats. Especially helpful was the detailing of Flash shortcomings with regards to RSS parsing. Hmm. Something to think about. Overall, very cool session.
