Presented by Duane Nickull (Adobe Systems). Enterprises are beginning to understand the immense importance of the evolution towards a semantic web. Those who have no clear strategies will be no better off than companies who ignored search engine optimization in the 1990s. This talk explores the rationale and reasons why such approaches might be desirable as well as delving into some of the research behind the topics.

This was so great! I really enjoyed the presentation and the Q&A

Dynamic and entertaining

I was a bit frustrated by this presentation. This is an important concept and it was treated in my opinion, too superficially. Why weren't we hearing from an ontologist? Or someone from the UC Berkeley School of Information or the San Jose State school of Library and Information Science? There are people who have devoted their lives to this topic - and could lead a richer discussion than was had in this session.

A critically important topic -- I'm glad it was on the agenda. Speaker was engaging and well-prepared. However, I would have liked to see more thorough fundamental explanations of semantics. In other words--and I can't believe I'm saying this!--it might have been better if it had been drier. It was almost too "breezy."

Was good to have a 'www' peep deliver this talk and explore the challenges and work arounds.. very informative and hope this is built upon in Berlin and next year!

A well thought-out presentation on ontologies - very engaging and above all the tagging hype that is out there.
