Presented by Jamie Taylor (Metaweb), Colin Evans (Metaweb), Toby Segaran (Metaweb). This tutorial will identify how the architecture of participation can be extended by combining open data and open source semantic technologies. We will use simple, hands-on examples to expose participants to semantic techniques that are possible today. The tutorial will culminate by working through the development of a semantic widget for movie reviews that makes use of the techniques described.

The computer scientist in me really loves this stuff! These guys clearly know what they are talking about. I think I've learned a lot and will be thinking about how to apply semantic mashups in my future work.

If you hate data, organization, ontologies or the future of open data and content this was *NOT* the session for you. But, if you are that person what the hell are you doing here? :p

This session was mind blowing. The potential of the architectural and technological techniques exposed is nothing short of explosive. All data folk still in their right mind will be at freebase BoF session on thursday.

Strong id types and powerful aggregation of triplicates will redefine what we now define as a mashup.

sorry nancy regan, when it comes to freebase.com/(freebasing?)...
i just say YES!

This is one of the most promising new web2.0 tools Ive seen lately. I'm bored of the whole social networking thing.. :) they just do the same thing again and again. This on the otherhand is solving a real problem which exists.

Great overview and distillation into what the big ideas are. Thanks guys!

This is a very relevant topic for this conference. Looking forward to the evolution of freebase.com and Open Data.
