Even Faster Web Sites

1:30 - 2:20PM on Friday, April 25 in 2002

Presented by Steve Souders (Google). Souders' book, High Performance Web Sites, describes the 14 best practices he developed while working as the Chief Performance Yahoo!. YSlow, the Firebug extension he created, codified those best practices. Now working at Google, Souders discusses the next set of best practices he's discovered, including the best ways to load JavaScript and where to place (and where not to place) inline scripts.

I thought this was an excellent presentation with a lot of good, practical information I can take back to my team.

I particularly appreciated the advanced javascript loading techniques that were reviewed.

The session was one of the best-organized I attended and the documentation/examples are already available on the web.

I agree with the others. The information is practical and easily explained to the developers. In looking for ways to optimize our sites.

Steve does a great work. The best presentation of the conference. His focus on javascript is more than welcomed. Steve is a great communicator and a true engineer. Really good!

This session was great: A knowledgeable presenter presenting a small list of detailed, clear, and concrete things to improve.
