I enjoyed this session a lot! If I had a better power source (let's face it, who's battery really can last a full workshop session?), I'd have coded along with all of the examples, instead of 3 or 4. I want to code up a UI for one of my projects based on what I learned today! Powerful stuff, and well presented!
Very good intro to the Adobe AIR and Flex platform/tools combo. I liked the fact that the code was readily available via thumb drives being passed around, but it seems like they could be posted online to make it a bit more efficient next time. Just a suggestion ;-)
I am looking forward to playing around with the code examples and getting a bit of experience with what was presented.
This was a killer session with some great examples and insights from the adobe cats. Thumb drive was *the* score of the morning, i will covet the code intensely.. yes, my precious *strokes thumb drive copy*.
I really enjoyed this session but was unable to do the programming because I didn't have any power for my laptop. I think it would have been a better session if we'd had power because doing the examples would have allowed me to follow along better and ask good questions.
This session was sweet. I do RIAs with Microsoft and Java stuff, but didn't have the Adobe background. These guys gave us a great helicopter ride from the hello world to some pretty sophisticated apps. I learned a *lot*.
And, yeah, laptop battery ran out on me too. Kinda forgot how to write with pen and paper! However, having the examples will pay huge dividends to make this session remarkably practical.
Adobe has a convert. Thanks guys!
This was a great hands-on session. Presenters were very knowledgeable and they gave great examples to the group
I didn't think this workshop was all that great. They rushed through what were supposed to demos for people new to Flex. They frequently typed in code without explaining what they were doing.
Pretty sloppy.
Great stuff. Flex is really impressive. Presenters did a nice job. Only suggestion for next time would be to add prep work to the course description. I would have liked it even better if I had set up my environment before I got in the room.
Great session and great examples showcasing the power of Flex and AIR. I never got access to the thumb drive, so I hope the code samples will be made available on the web.
Yes, I agree with Jason that posting the materials online would have been far more appropriate. I enjoyed the session a lot, and Duane and James were very knowledgeable. Perhaps this could have been offered as a full-day workshop to allow for more meaningful practice.
Very knowledgable presenters, lots of examples, but the session was flawed by some disorganization at the beginning. Have the examples up on a website. USB stick passed around a big crowd? Really? Are you serious? At a Web conference???
Great session! But I wouldn't call it a "workshop". There was really no way to follow along "coding".... way too much info to listen to, follow, much less code at the same time in a tool I hadn't seen before. The presenters were VERY knowledgeable and I definitely am glad I attended the session. I'll have to do the coding aspect on my own.
great session but would have been better to have had forewarning or time to download the software and the files that he passsed around.
This made it hard to follow along and so alot of people were frustrated
Very insightful talk and great presenters. However, couple of points that could be improved: the announcement for the workshop should have mentioned what SW people should install (and where to get it from) before attending the workshop, if they want to follow the coding examples along. Also, the examples could have been shared on some website before so people could familiarize themselves with them. The talk could have been structured a bit clearer - due to the pace it was difficult to follow the code examples. Maybe a better approach would have been to first have a basic coding session that people can follow along. Then the second part could cover topics without expecting people to code along.
I only attended the last hour of this one because I'm already familiar with Flex but I still got a lot out of it. They covered some interesting stuff and the presenters were very enthusiastic!

Great introduction to Flex and Air for first time users. Created a lot of excitement for attendees to go home and use it! A+
