About: The Capitalist Web 1.0 iPod vs. The Socialist Web 2.0 iPhone MashUp

In the future Web1 technology iPods may be somewhat annoying. As an escape from the stream of human consciousness these Web1 technology devises may require too much work. If at any point in time, users wanted to hear a stream of what all the music bloggers deemed as the best songs on all the music blogs in the internet [4] but the users didn’t want to devote any effort or expense to this activity then the users would want to use Web 2 technology to automatically have this collaboratively hand filtered stream of the very best music constantly updated and piped into their ear. Users should never want to revert to manually dealing with any Web 1 technologies like an mp3 “store” on their pc or the manual process of “syncing” that music from their pc on to their portable music device (Henceforth iPod device.) Today and in the future these Web 1 technologies have learning curves which are too steep and the pay offs too low.
The behavioral theories of “Social loafing” and “Network externalities” would suggest that users could satisfy their need for music by just listening to the large amount of free mp3 content available on the internet.
The objective of this paper is to analyze the social behavior embodied in the automation of the entire process and to demonstrate how to be certain that one was listening to what everybody else was listening to without actually having to listen to what everyone else was listening to.
