Steve Jones
About: Working for a VLFI (Very Large Financial Institution) as an architect and strategist on the IT side of the house. Haven't been in the web space since a Silicon Alley startup in 2000ish (was Director of Ops for TradingNews, launched as m4logic.com -- RIP), but have recently been reassigned to "figure out that Web 2.0 stuff" ...
I'm particularly interested in the intersection of Web 2.0 features like tag clouds (say from document metadata), social data (connections, expertise), and mashups with open source software. In other words, how can I build a platform or set of services to provide these features to the enterprise using open source? Because in the enterprise we'll be adding these features to existing or reworked applications more often than we'd be rolling out something brand new.
I've been asked if I could integrate the a set of open source projects in order to match the feature set of Microsoft's Sharepoint, but I don't have an answer for that one. Do you?
