Who will be watching the Olympics Online?

Posted Monday, April 14, 8:56PM

I've been having lots of discussions lately with my friends about the Olympics coverage this year (the first in the so called web 2.0 generation of the internet) and just happens to be really relevant to my business

(plug: ChinaCache is responsible for the Content Delivery for the official Beijing Olympics website - of course if you need CDN solutions for China would love to talk).

I was thinking that the games are an ideal venue for fans to watch online because there are so many sports, this really almost falls into the long tail/niche content stuff that people will want to watch live (or semi live) coverage of their favorite sport (pick one that you think is funny etc), even though the major broadcasters cctv in china, nbc in us may not spend that much time to it. Don't tell that to the relatives of the althletes their fans, or followers or participants of the sport.

Therefore, how much time will you spend online in your country for news, highlights or in China live streaming feeds?

What would you advise in terms of content and features for the next Olympics site (keeping in mind the IoC is not quite as open yet as this forum).
