Anyone want to chat about OpenID, oAuth, OpenSocial or hCard

Posted Thu Mar 20 21:55:29 -0700 2008

I wrote the blog below after recently being convinced that one or more of these might have a chance of catching on big. However, I am concerned about the marketing effort going into each, and am trying to figure out which (if any) will catch on with mass appeal?

Please hunt me up if you want to chat about it.

There's going to be a session at the Web2Open on User Interface for Emerging Standards (specifically these standards). I've found that they become a lot more compelling and certainly more concrete when you see them in action with a real UI. We'll definitely have someone from Dopplr at the session and hopefully someone from GetSatisfaction. They do a great job of making hCard look useful.

Tentatively the session is 1:30pm on Wednesday.

We hope to have a demo application for visualizing social networks based on what OpenSocial promises as a REST API. Of course it will be written in Curl and since the specification is not final yet ... we will probably be demoing demo data, but hopefully it will be more useful as soon as social networks start implementing OpenSocial. Anyway, stop buy our booth (Curl, Inc.) and check out the demo and ask for me.

All the best,

Richard
